How-to guide

How to share a football lineup with friends, teammates or followers

MyLineups lets you share a lineup two ways: as a static image or as a share link. Here is how to pick the right one for each situation.

Option 1: export the lineup image

The image is a PNG of your lineup on a pitch with every player in the team kit. It is the right choice for social media posts, WhatsApp groups, Telegram channels, or anywhere the reader just needs to see the XI without having to tap a link.

  • Great for posts on X, Instagram, Threads, TikTok thumbnails and Discord embeds.
  • Works offline once the reader has the file.
  • Best when you want full control over the look and do not need the reader to edit anything.

Option 2: copy a share link

The share link reopens the exact same lineup in the browser when someone opens it. Same players, same formation, same toggles. It is the right choice when you want the reader to tweak the lineup (for example, send it to a coach or a friend and let them make their own substitution before replying).

  • Great for coach-to-player communication and tactical discussions.
  • Works across devices: a lineup built on desktop opens on a phone with the same shape.
  • Ideal for fantasy mini-leagues or group chats where every member will tweak the XI.

Step by step: build and share a lineup

  1. Open the MyLineups web builder .
  2. Pick one of the more than 300 clubs and national teams to load its current squad.
  3. Choose a formation and scale the lineup between 2 and 11 players per side if you need a smaller group.
  4. Swap players between pitch and bench until the XI looks right. Toggle jersey numbers, country flags and club badges to match the look you want.
  5. Tap the share action and pick the format: export the image or copy the share link. Both come from the same XI, so you can do one, the other, or both.

Quick tips for social-ready lineup graphics

  • Turn jersey numbers on when the post is about a specific matchday, off when the post is about a formation in general.
  • Leave country flags on for national teams and off for clubs to keep the image clean.
  • Keep a consistent format for recurring posts (for example, same formation view for weekly predicted XIs) so readers recognize the style at a glance.

Sharing from a coach or team staff

The share link is the fastest way to send a lineup to players or parents. Everybody sees the same XI, anyone can forward it to somebody else, and you do not have to worry about image compression or screenshot quality.

For a more complete workflow (saving up to 50 lineups, adding match notes, cards, goals and substitutions, and keeping a private history of your teams) the MyLineups mobile app is the full version of the tool.
