How to make a football lineup

This is how most MyLineups users go from zero to a shareable starting XI in minutes.

1. Open Builder

Open Builder from any device. Nothing to install and no account required. The web builder remembers the last team you opened on that device, so you can come back to it later.

2. Pick a team

Use the team picker to load one of more than 300 clubs or national teams. The builder fills in the current squad, home kit and a sensible formation. If you want to start a lineup from scratch with no base club, that is a feature of the MyLineups mobile app.

3. Choose a formation

Open the formation picker and browse between 20+ preset formations. Common shapes like 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2, 4-4-2 and 5-3-2 sit at the top, with many variants below. Tap the one you want and every player is auto-positioned. If you need a smaller side, tap the players setting to scale the lineup between 2 and 11 players.

4. Move players and clean up the image

Swap players between the pitch and the bench, and between positions on the pitch, until the XI matches what you have in mind. Toggle jersey numbers, country flags and club badges per lineup so the image looks clean. To edit player names, mark captains and log cards, goals, substitutions or ratings, use the MyLineups mobile app.

5. Set the scene

On the web, every club is rendered in its own home kit on a polished pitch, so the lineup already looks like the real team. Add a memo or lineup note to give the lineup context. For alternate kits, player-specific kits and custom pitch themes, switch to the MyLineups mobile app.

6. Export or share

Tap Export to download a clean square lineup image. Tap Share to copy a link that reopens the exact same lineup on another device — handy when you want a teammate to tweak something, or when you want to paste the lineup into a post.

Pro tips

  • Use the share link as your "save" button on the web: paste it into your notes and it will re-open the lineup later with the same formation, players, memo and toggles.
  • Plan one base lineup per team and share a link when you only want to change a couple of players for a new gameweek or matchday, so teammates can open the exact version you started from.
  • If you want the full version of this workflow — with custom lineups from scratch, any of ~10,000 players from the catalog, your own custom players, saved lineups and advanced editing (names, captain, cards, goals, subs, ratings) — install the MyLineups mobile app.
